Automatic Initiating Devices: This type of fire alarm device is constantly aware of its surroundings. It always looks for signs of fire in your establishment even when no one is present in the building giving everyone peace of mind. Common signs include smoke, heat, flames, & the water flow in sprinkler systems. Examples of these devices include heat detectors, smoke detectors, flame detectors, gas detectors, and tamper switches.
Manual Initiating Devices: These devices are manually tripped with the assistance of a person. Examples of these devices include manual pull stations.
Notification Devices: Once fire alarms are tripped, a notification appliance will alert anyone within proximity of a fire. The system then signals to occupants the event of fire utilizing a combination of audio and visual. Examples of notification include horn strobes, bells, and pre-recorded voice message.
Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP): The "brain" of the system. The FACP tells each component what to do and when to do it. The FACP is programmed to interconnect all devices and constantly diagnoses the system. It will signal conditions such as normal, trouble, supervisory, or alarm. If your FACP is not showing "System Normal", there is an issue requiring one of our fire alarm technicians to address. There are two types of FACPs, addressable and conventional.
